Accessibility statement
A website everyone can use
Web Design Freedom is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or other assistive technology.
Our standard
This website is designed and tested to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in new tab) at Level AA, the standard most widely used by businesses and public agencies. Meeting WCAG 2.2 AA also meets WCAG 2.1 AA.
Our assessment status: we believe this site conforms to WCAG 2.2 Level AA, based on the self-evaluation described below.
What we’ve done
- Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link
- Text and controls meet WCAG color contrast requirements, including form field outlines
- Headings, landmarks and labels are structured so screen readers can navigate the page
- Images that carry meaning have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers
- Pages reflow to a single column down to 320 pixels wide and work at 200% zoom
- Buttons and controls are large enough to tap easily
- Animation can be paused with the Pause animation button, and is switched off automatically if your device is set to reduce motion
- Your own mouse pointer always stays visible, including enlarged pointers
- The pages use valid HTML and CSS
How we test
We evaluate the site ourselves whenever it changes:
- Automated testing with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA rules
- Validation with the W3C HTML and CSS validators
- Manual checks of keyboard navigation, focus visibility, color contrast, target size, zoom and reflow, motion and form behavior

Compatibility
The site is built with standard HTML, CSS and JavaScript and is designed to work in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge, on desktop and mobile, and with assistive technology such as screen readers and screen magnifiers. Page content and navigation work with JavaScript turned off. The contact form needs JavaScript; if that’s a problem for you, please call us instead.
Limitations
The “Our work” sections link to our clients’ own websites. Those are separate sites, and this statement covers webdesignfreedom.com only.
